carving forward
In collaboration with Semá:th First Nation, Leq’á:mel First Nation, Màthxwi First Nation, Stό:lō Community Futures, Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Abbotsford, I was asked to create a short documentary featuring local Coast Salish carvers.
Over months I got to learn a ton about types of cedar, different carving tools and techniques, and just how personal and emotional carving can be.
Thank you to Ray Silver, Kathy Silver, Raphael Silver, and Mike Epp for allowing me to capture your stories and shed light on the extreme dedication required to become carvers of this skill.
